About Karen Betts

Known unofficially on the beauty scene as the 'Brow Queen', Karen Betts began her career in the world of eyebrows when one of her close friends was sadly diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout her treatment, Karen’s friend lost her eyebrow hairs, and told Karen how badly the loss was affecting her self-esteem. At the time, Karen was working as a hairdresser in her own salon where she rented a room to a tattoo artist. With a sudden idea, she wondered if she could tattoo brows onto her friend’s face to give her the confidence back that she so badly needed. She took to the tattoo gun and tattooed her first ever pair of eyebrows.

Karen soon realised that there must be many women and men in the UK struggling with a lack of confidence due to hair loss – and not just due to cancer treatment, either. She soon embarked on a path that led her to discovering the art of permanent makeup and flew across to the USA - which was the only place offering this kind of innovative training, to learn everything she could.

Returning back to the UK, Karen pioneered permanent makeup and medical tattooing, and began her beauty empire that includes a collection of powerhouse brands delivering treatments and products to help women and men feel amazing in their own skin: HD Brows being one of them.

Realising that brows really were big news, Karen created HD Brows – a professional in-salon treatment to wax, thread, pluck, tint, and fill eyebrows to perfection.
