Meet Our Face The Future Autumn Magazine Cover Stars
On a sunny afternoon in the middle of the (not so) great British summer, our content team sat together in the boardroom pondering: how can we capture the essence of the beauty of transition and create a memorable FTF edition that would resonate with our community? Then it hit us: why not let our amazing customers be the stars of our cover?
And thanks to that little moment of clarity, we're super proud to introduce three very special guests to you. Meet Victoria, Helen, and Chris – our fabulous autumn edition cover stars (and all around super women!)
Choosing Our Cover Stars
If you follow us on social media (and if you don't, what are you waiting for? Come join us!) you may have seen our call out giving all of our wonderful community the opportunity to be selected as a cover star. The rules of application? We simply wanted to know why you wanted to be featured. We were blown away by the incredible responses. Some of the stories we read were so moving, we couldn't help but shed a few tears. Based on those short snippets alone, we selected three amazing applicants. Our team was thrilled to meet, greet, and treat these three wonderful women.
Hosting Our VIPs At FTF HQ
We had the pleasure of hosting these amazing women for a fun-filled day at FTF HQ. From discussing why ageing is a privilege, to learning to love and respect our skin even through our struggles, our team were blown away by the inspiring skincare and life stories from these powerful women.
Kicking off the day with a tour of our offices and warehouse, our lovely ladies had a sneak peek behind the scenes! Next up, it was time for a relaxing mini facial by Katy, one of our skin practitioners, followed by a glam makeover by our makeup artists, Rachael and Laura, using the most iconic products from Sigma Beauty, Jane Iredale, and RevitaLash. After a fabulous pamper, our dreamy trio hit the studio for their stunning cover shoot with our videographer, Blessing, and social media manager, Ishnee.
Meet Chris
At 76 years old (no, that is not a typo, Chris really does look that youthful!) Chris attributes her healthy, radiant skin not only to her healthy lifestyle, but to her dedicated use of Environ products that she's enjoyed throughout the last 20 or so years.
Leaning into the ageing process instead of shying away from it, Chris has been embracing how she looks so young for her age without the need for any surgical interventions.
By understanding the importance of balancing a healthy diet alongside a dedicated skincare routine (which includes a monthly Environ facial and using a dermal roller), Chris has truly realised the power of a holistic approach to achieving and maintaining healthy, radiant skin.
"I feel that by looking after my skin, then I'm giving my body the best chance of looking after myself. Looking after your skin is part of living...and you can do that with Face the Future. Ageing is a natural phenomenon and what's happening at the moment is that we're frightened of it...if we age as naturally as possible than we have a map on our faces of our life - we become who we're meant to be."
Meet Helen
Travelling to our Yorkshire office all the way from Surrey, Helen says that part of her reason for applying to be a cover star was thanks to the help our wonderful FTF team gave to her when she was struggling with psoriasis and wasn't sure what products could work for her.
She remembers: "One of the worst points in my life was going to the dermatologist with my mum about age 14, and him saying 'so why are you here, about your psoriasis or your acne?' And me thinking, oh my gosh, having both is just rubbish! I was kind of growing out of spots, but psoriasis was just always up and down until I really discovered that for me it had a really big stress link, and for me, that was an important discovery and really changed the way that I approached skincare - I guess, making it more of a holistic thing rather than just what you put on your skin - which is obviously important as well. It was also a revelation to me that how I responded to stress would often be the trigger."
With a background in physio and having been a pilates instructor for 20 years, Helen realises the importance of inner health and wellbeing when it comes to the health of her skin, too. Now, by eating well, trying to process emotions, and using her favourite Medik8 products, she has noticed the shift in her ability to take control of her skin.
When asked what Helen loves about her skin, she said: "I love the fact that my skin is very resilient, it bounces back in quite a physical way. I've had three babies and it's stretched out here and then kind of gone back amazingly. And I've had acne in the past, and I still have bits of psoriasis, but it recovers, and I think that's the lovely thing about skin. It regenerates...bouncing back from hiccups. The wrinkles are a little bit less easy to bounce back from...but I'm trying to embrace them as well."
Meet Victoria
A fan of [coat]s skincare (particularly their toning milk which she absolutely loves) Victoria is a self-proclaimed skincare junkie. Discovering Face the Future during our On The Road campaign when she visited us in Leeds, Victoria enjoyed seeing us that much that she even followed us all the way to our next location down in London - now that's dedication!
Victoria says: "I was really lucky that when I was younger my auntie believed massively in skincare. She made me not be a lazy teenager. I wasn't allowed to go to bed without makeup only, had to clean my skin. So she got me into skincare at an early age which I am massively grateful for. She encouraged me to try new things, and then, as I got older and started shopping myself, that's when I was like, actually, I really love skincare! So I have hundreds and hundreds of pieces of skincare at home."
To Victoria, skincare means everything, it's her 'ride or die.' No matter if she's going away for just a weekend, her skincare accompanies her everywhere (something our FTF team can relate to!)
On ageing, Victoria says that she isn't scared of the process. "My gran and my auntie were always my idols for my skincare, they never looked their age. My auntie, she will kill me for saying this, is in her 80's but she gets told she's not old enough to be a pensioner. She still looks in her 60's and she looks amazing for it. So if I can look a fraction like her if I get to her age, that would be amazing."
