4 Signs You're Stuck In A Skincare Rut

We are creatures of habit. When we find a routine we like, we stick to it morning and evening, day in day out. Occasionally, the same routine is great and just what our skin needs; after all, consistency is key. However, there are a few telltale signs that you are stuck in a skincare rut and need to change it up!

Dry or tight skin

If your skin is normally prone to oiliness and you are noticing dry patches or skin tightness, it could be that the products you are using are too stripping. If you regularly use a toner or exfoliating acid, consider reducing use and including more hydration to boost skin moisture.

Try Beautycoll Hyaluronic Acid Serum 3.5%, which contains low molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid to penetrate layers of skin and bind skin cells to water for boosted hydration, reinforced skin barrier and improvements in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Out of date products

Just like the two-week-old bananas in your fruit bowl, skincare goes out of date too. Take a look at your skincare and look for expiry dates as well as the little jar icon showing '6M', '12M' or '24M', meaning 6 months, 12 months and 24 months.

This tiny symbol is an indication as to how long your products are safe to use after opening. So if you've still got an eye cream or a jar of moisturiser that you started using 3 years ago, it's probably time to throw them out and replenish your bathroom shelf with shiny new skincare loveliness.

Skin is breaking out

If a quick sweep of a face wipe has been the extent of your cleansing routine for as long as you can remember and you are starting to notice more regular breakouts, you need to up your cleansing game. Firstly, double cleansing should be the start of your evening regime: every night, without fail!Start with complete and effective makeup removal, we love Skyn ICELAND Micellar Cleansing Water. The soap and alcohol-free formula leaves skin feeling hydrated, never dry or tight. Skin's delicate pH balance is maintained whilst effectively removing dirt, impurities, sebum and make-up.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, rich in antioxidants Vitamins C and E, calms skin with it's anti-inflammatory properties to comfort and heal irritated skin. Arctic Algae Extract strengthens skin's natural barrier and plumps skin for less visible lines. For your second cleanse, if breakouts are your concern, try DMK Deep Pore Facial Cleanser. This natural, non-alkaline cleanser flushes embedded impurities from the epidermis layer of the skin and contains natural astringent and antiseptic ingredients to keeps pores tight, supple and young whilst also removing cell debris, makeup and pore build up.For more dry skin types, try a cleansing milk which can double as both your first and second cleanse. Our favourite is Mesoestetic Hydra Milk Cleanser, a mild, milky cleanser that help dissolves make-up and eliminates impurities. Skin is left feeling fresh, hydrated and comfortable without any tightness.

The weather has changed but your skincare hasn't

As hydrating as your light and airy serum/moisturiser summer combo may be, the colder weather is creeping in. Your skin has to tackle the warm central heating vs. the freezing cold commute to work and will be screaming out for some soothing hydration.

Try a facial oil to deliver much needed nourishment; we love Lumity Facial Oil, which only contains natural ingredients. 32 natural plant oils and extracts go in to the oil, with no toxic or synthetic ingredients whatsoever. Skin elasticity, radiance and firmness are restored and skin is protected against damage caused by environmental aggressors such as pollution.VERSO Super Facial Oil is a luxurious oil with the added benefit of Retinol to promote collagen synthesis and reduce inflammation. The lightweight and nourishing oil is easily absorbed, helping to smooth, refine, strengthen and clarify skin.

Verso's patented Retinol 8 Complex, is a stabilised Vitamin A complex that's eight times more effective than standard Retinol but with half the irritation. Healthy and rich sunflower and canola oils hydrate, moisturise and reduce inflammatory tendencies caused by everyday life and UV exposure.
