Our Tips For Kids Sun Safety
Use Water-Resistant Sunscreen
Holidays usually mean warm weather and lots of swimming! This can mean your children are in and out of the pool and sea all day. Although using a water-resistant sunscreen doesnât guarantee consistent protection while swimming, most water-resistant sunscreens keep their level of SPF for a certain amount of time while swimming, for example between 40-80 minutes.
Reapplication is Key
Although one application of a high factor sunscreen may feel like enough, itâs so important to always reapply. This is especially important if your child has been in and out of the water, even if youâre using a water-resistant sunscreen. UV levels can vary throughout the day, so although the sun may not feel strong, you should always make sure to reapply when possible.
Choose sunscreens suited to your childâs skin type
As your child is growing, youâll start to notice if certain products irritate their skin or if they are starting to show signs of atopic conditions such as eczema. Recognising this can allow you choose the right products for your children and their skin, reducing any potential irritation.
