The Importance of Skin Hydration with Rejuvenated

Where do you turn when your skin's feeling dry or dehydrated and your trusty Hyaluronic Acid serum just isn't cutting it? Do you head straight for the facial oils? Or a thick moisturiser? To get to the root cause of the problem, you need to boost hydration levels from the inside. We spoke with Kathryn Danzey, founder of Rejuvenated, all about the importance of skin hydration...
Q: How do you know when skin is dehydrated?
Dehydrated skin can be confused with dry skin but the signs and causes are very different. If you are suffering from a combination of the following points you need to consider ways to boost and improve hydration.- An appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Itchiness
- Dullness
- Tight
- Flaky
- Increased sensitivity and redness
- Susceptible to rosacea and broke capillaries
- You may also have oily patches at the same time
Q: As we enter the colder months and our skin is dealing with cold temperatures outside vs. warm central heating inside, how do you manage skin dehydration and minimise the external symptoms?
It's important to boost hydration in preparation for the colder weather. Fluctuations in temperature can play havoc on the skin and going from the extreme cold to open fires and central heating can promote dehydration. Try to minimise temperature extremes and instead of sitting in front of a fire, gently warm your skin when you come in from the cold.Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day including herbal teas and hot water with lemon and honey. Most of us think that we only need to hydrate in the warm summer months but taking steps to stay hydrated now will help to nourish skin and keep you glowing. Drinking H3O Hydration will help to prevent dryness and reduce the potential for broken capillaries and rosacea.Q: Available at Face the Future, we sell two Rejuvenated products aimed as boosting skin hydration. Can you explain the difference between H3O Night Repair & H3O Hydration?
H3O Hydration and H3O Night Repair provide 24-hour hydration coverage.

Q: We are all aware of the benefits of applying a topical Hyaluronic Acid serum, but what are the benefits of an orally administered hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced in our body. Large amounts of it are found in our skin, connective tissue and eyes. It's being called the 'fountain of youth' and its main function is to bind with water to keep tissues well lubricated and moist. As with all good things in our body, levels of Hyaluronic Acid start to diminish as we age and taking it in supplement form may prevent this decline. It can help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by plumping out the skin from within.Q: Is it just a case of drinking more water and hoping for a re-hydration miracle?
Not all the water we drink is absorbed effectively and this is where H3O Hydration plays an important role.Electrolytes are essential to hydrate skin, as they regulate how and where fluids are distributed throughout the body. They are essential for controlling fluid passage across all cell membranes, to transport nutrients into cells and waste out. H3O Hydration uses an ionic bond with water to transfer water through the stomach wall more quickly to promote a healthy fluid balance within the cells. It also provides all the key minerals for skin and ions necessary to create super healthy and hydrated cells.Q: What is your go-to regime for ensuring well-hydrated skin?
I'm not the best at just drinking water on it's own so I find H3O Hydration invaluable. The electrolytes transport fluid more effectively, so it's not so vital to drink 8 glasses of water a day.I start my day with herbal tea and have my first hydration drink early in the morning, this is usually enough to keep me energised and hydrated throughout the day. However, if I do start to slump, then a top up in the early afternoon will see me through until the evening.
