The Busy Mum's Skin Care Guide

The Busy Mum's Skin Care Guide

Yes, it may only have been a few days ago, but the pampering is now long gone and it's back to business as usual for busy mums. When you've got lunches to make, clothes to iron and a school run to tackle, your beauty regime can take a bit of a hit. Even though mums have a million and one things on their to-do list, it doesn't mean you should neglect yourself. Here are our top tips for when you need to be out the door with kids in tow.

Use multi-functional products

My morning routine is all about ensuring my skin is protected and hydrated throughout the day, so the Elizabeth Arden Pro Hydrating Antioxidant Spray is my ultimate lazy routine product. It combines multiple antioxidants to protect the skin against daily environmental damage and pollutants that can lead to premature lines and wrinkles. It also contains hyaluronic acid to boost skin hydration. Plus, the spray formula is super refreshing first thing on a morning! This can act as your toner, serum and moisturiser all in one, so you can cleanse, spritz, SPF and go.Top tip: Spray this throughout the day, either onto the skin or over make up, to give tired skin a pick-me-up.

Prioritise the essentials

As luxurious as it would be to complete a 7-step pampering regime every morning, in reality, that's never going to happen. If five minutes is all you have, you need to ensure you're at least getting the essentials. For me, I wouldn't leave the house without cleansing and applying SPF “ any other serums and lotions I have chance to apply are a bonus. Use a cleanser that won't strip the skin “ i.e. non-exfoliating and non-foaming “ followed by your sun protection. If you can't bear to be without moisturiser, try a hydrating SPF formula, such as the Image Skincare Prevention+ Daily Hydrating SPF 30.

Top tip: Oily skinned gals should opt for the Prevention+ Daily Matte for light hydration and oil-controlling benefits.Although it may not seem like an essential during the winter, UVA rays are present all year round and lead to the formation of lines, wrinkles, dark spots and uneven skin tone. Not wearing SPF will counteract all the hard work your anti-ageing products are putting in, which leads me onto

Look after your skin at night

When the kids have gone to bed and you finally get some 'me time', set aside 10 minutes of that time to take care of your skin. Not only will it help you to wind down at the end of a hectic day, your skin will absolutely thank you for it. Now is the time to include those anti-ageing staples, such as a retinol or hyaluronic acid, a luxurious moisturiser and some treatments thrown in.
