Today we’re joined by Be Loasby-Smith - a freelance educator working with iS Clinical. Be’s focus is on providing gold standard clinical education and translating the proprietary technologies, formulations, and synergistic ingredients within these advanced products. Be is a powerhouse of knowledge on these advanced formulations, so today, we’re speaking to her to learn how to get a brighter complexion this autumn.

What Makes iS Clinical Formulas Special?
This award-winning, multitasking skincare range really harnesses the power of botanical skincare and pharma grade quality ingredients with a non-aggressive approach to skin health, supporting DNA repair and protection in skincare.
What Is Dull Skin?
“Dullness essentially refers to a lack of radiance or an inability to reflect the light well." Be said. “Dull skin may appear dry, patchy, ashy or lakclustre. Additionally, dullness is often accompanied by uneven skin texture because textured skin is less able to reflect light uniformly. The skin may feel rough to the touch, dehydrated, dry, and flaky.”
What Causes Dull Skin?
Be explains that dullness often occurs due to several different factors - both internal, like your lifestyle, and external like environmental aggressors and stressors. “Ageing is a key intrinsic factor that actually affects the consistency of the skin.” Be said. “As we age the production of essential compounds like collagen and elastin really slows down, affecting the skin's natural lipid content which helps to keep the skin hydrated and soft. These factors combined with years of UV damage and sun exposure result in dull, uneven skin.”
Be also explained that ineffective or non-existent exfoliation can also result in a buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of our skin - particularly in mature or dry skin. A lack of self-stimulation or exfoliation to promote healthy cell turnover or cell desquamation means that shedding can really cause the skin to look dull and rough in texture.
“A lesser-known culprit of dull skin can actually be a lack of sleep.” Be said. “Whilst we sleep, our skin is working hard to repair, renew, and replenish - excreting unwanted toxins out of our skin. If sleep is limited, this repair process will be impaired, meaning transparency, luminosity, and texture - in other words overall radiance - will be significantly reduced.”
How Can The iS Clinical Youth Range Help To Brighten Your Skin?
The iS Clinical Youth range is the multitasking anti-ageing product line which uses a blend a synergistically formulated ingredients designed to be preventative and corrective in order to decrease the visible signs of skin ageing in both young and mature skins.
Be said, “this range really uses a combination of antioxidants, resurfacing acids, and natural hydrators to brighten, hydrate the surface, and support the integral structures of the skin. The hero ingredient used within this range is copper tripeptide growth factor which has been clinically proven to stimulate the synthesis of collagen in the skin. This bioidentical ingredient works synergistically with vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, as well as with our proprietary Extremozymes® technology, utilising extremophilic enzymes clinically proven to protect and repair fragile proteins and DNA.”
Be’s Top 3 Products For Brighter Skin
“The first iS Clinical product to use in your skin care routine to assist with brightening the skin is the iS Clinical Brightening Complex.” Be said. “This non-toxic, safe, brightening, antioxidant, hyperpigmentation system offers resurfacing smoothing and hydrating benefits targeting all five steps of hyperpigmentation. This product contains salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid to resurface and uneven pigmented skin, and licorice root extract which possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and wound healing properties. However, the real hero ingredient in this formulation is Norwegian kelp which interrupts the communication between melanocytes and keratinocytes. This increases controlled exfoliation and significantly reduces pigmentation. This product can be used every morning after cleansing and serum application, and prior to any moisturiser and sunscreen.”
For the second product, Be recommends the iS Clinical Brightening Serum. “This lightweight, easily absorbed serum is a 24-hour depigmentation system which is a safe alternative to hydroquinone.” Be explains, “this targeted booster contains similar ingredients to the Brightening Complex, such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and Norwegian kelp, and is not only used to spot treat unwanted pigmentation on spots such as solar lentigos, but also to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We advise to use this product in the evening following your cleanse and prior to any moisturisation.”
And as for the last product? “The third and potentially most exciting product for skin brightening is our newly launched product range: iS Clinical Retinol + Emulsion, available in 0.3 and 1.0 strengths.” Be said. “These highly active, fast-acting formulas combine retinol with a proprietary blend of bakuchiol and other powerful botanical boosters, antioxidants, Extremozymes® technology to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles whilst evening skin tone and texture for a smoother or radiant complexion. This nourishing form of retinol is encapsulated with bioidentical lipids which provides easy delivery to the skin whilst improving its resilience and overall long-term condition. Retinol + Emulsion 1.0 is a professional strength formula recommended for use only as advised by a licensed professional. This is retinol reimagined, retinol boosted, and retinol that really improves the look of dull ageing skin, elevating confidence and revealing a new you.”
How To Maintain Radiant Skin
So, now you’ve achieved a radiant complexion, how do you maintain it? Be said consistency is key. “It's really important to not only consistently stimulate the skin with antioxidant, resurfacing, and hydrating ingredients, but to also maintain a healthy lifestyle to support the internal cell structures and processes of the skin.” She said. “The skin is a window to what's going on inside the body, and protection from lifestyle factors and environmental aggressors is key. This will then be supported by iS Clinical's pharmaceutical grade, botanically derived products, and ingredients to ensure optimal health and radiance within the skin, free from dullness.”
