Sun Damage Part Three
If, over the years we have sustained damage to our skins, is it possible to repair and improve our skins health and condition?
Typical signs of sundamage include:
* Pigmentation and irregular freckling.
* Premature ageing of the skin, leading to significant lines and wrinkes.
* Loss of collagen and elastin, leading to poor structural integrity.
* Vascular damage, thread veins to the face, neck and decolletage.
These issues can be addressed successful and skin can be improved drastically by using a combination of treatments. It is always better to seek professional advice to repair sundamage, however the following is a brief guide of tips that can improve skin drastically.
1. To repair the skin, we need to use products that are ‘active’ and have a positive effect not only on the surface of the skin but also at a deeper dermal cellular level. Topical Vitamin A is a fantastic way of improving skin health, reducing pigmentation and improving collagen production. It is important to use the right strength of Vitamin A, my preference being for Danne Montague King’s Retosin or Obagi’s prescription strength Tretinoin.
2. Professional Skin Peels can give fantastic results and these can be done as a ‘big peel’, resulting in skin shedding or a slower approach, with no down time. Peels, when done safely can be an excellent way of improving skin quickly and effectively.
3. A good skin care range, such as Danne, Obagi and Environ (all of which include Vitamins A and C as staples) help maintain results and give continual improvement.
4. Genuine Dermaroller is a great way of stimulating Collagen Production and when used in conjunction with a repairing product, such as those offered by the above ranges, can give lovely results. I predict that Dermaroller will become one of the most popular treatments in 2010.
5. Home use Dermaroller is also a great way of making sure active ingredients get exactly where we need them, in the dermal layer of the skin. This easy and fairly comfortanle treatment can be done in the comfort of your own home and is a positive way of maintaining results.
There are many, many ways we can repair sundamage and improve our skins and the above gives a general overview on where to start to get optimal results.
