Sunburn Fades, Sun Damage Doesn’t
Over exposure to sunlight is the greatest challenge facing our skin. Sun or photo-damage is caused by ultra violet radiation in the forms of UVA and UVB.
UVA
Makes up 95% of UV. UVA penetrates deep into the dermis and damages skin… even on a cloudy day or in winter!
Collagen, elastin and underlying skin architecture are all damaged by the release of free radicals or reactive oxygen which is caused by UVA.
UVA seriously reduces the skins natural defence mechanisms and can cause skin cancer, as well as causing pigmentation problems and skin reactions.
UVB
More prevalent on sunny days during the summer. It only penetrates the epidermal layer of the skin, and is what will give you a tan.
Whilst tanning UVB can cause reddening, burning and epidermal damage. Most importantly UVB also reduces the skins natural defence mechanisms and can cause skin cancer.

Hydrafacial – The “Lunch Break” Facial

What is the Hydrafacial treatment?
The Hydrafacial is a comparatively new development to the facial aesthetic market. It is a gentle resurfacing facial, which unlike microdermabrasion, leaves skin feeling both smooth and intensely hydrated. Traditional microdermabrasion methods use finely ground crystals or sand to exfoliate skin but don’t rebuild or hydrate skin, leaving skin open to damage of the acid mantle and upsetting the delicate balance of the skin. The Hydrafacial treatment uses a uniquely designed spiral tip to exfoliate and water based serums to cleanse, exfoliate and rebuild, leaving skin perfectly cleansed and hydrated, without the need for harsh mechanical exfoliants. It is also a delivery system, ensuring that skin receives essential nutrients such as antioxidents and moisturisers such as hylauronic acid.
The fact that the Hydrafacial has the ability to moisturise the skin makes the treatment stand alone from other skin rejuvenating treatments and microdermabrasion procedures.
Is this treatment for me?
The Hydrafacial is suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive skin. Your Face the Future clinician may choose specific treatment serums and/or customise the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs. This procedure is ideal for those desiring facial rejuvenation with no downtime. We could even say it’s the lunch break facial!
Used as a series of facials it can be used to target minor skin problems, such as early wrinkles, mild acne and mild pigmentation.
What does the Hydrafacial treatment do?
The Hydrafacial treatment is used to remove dead skin cells from the epidermis, and extract any impurities from within the skin. At the same time serums are applied to the new skin, to cleanse, hydrate and moisturise. Hydrafacial effectively and safely improves the skin quality by increasing its thickness, helping repair the dermal matrix and delivering beneficial antioxidants.
Radio Frequency Special Offer
Radio Frequency is a device that heats both deep and superficial skin layers by delivering electrical current via poles/electrodes to targeted areas. The heating procedure tightens and rejuvenates skin and can help reduce areas of localised fat.
Radio Frequency is fast becoming a firm favourite in the Aesthetic Industry and can make a significant difference to problem areas on both face and body.
Typically facial areas include:
- Double Chins
- Fat or Flabby Cheeks
- Facial Sculpturing
- Sagging Jowels
- Crepey Necks
Typical body areas include:
- Bra Bulges
- Love Handles
- Post Pregnancy Tummy
- Inner Thighs
- Saddle Bags
Radio Frequency is a comfortable procedure with no down time afterwards. Skin is a red, a little warm and tingly. The number of treatments depends on the area to be treated and how significant the problem is. Multiple areas can be treated in one session. Typically 8 to 12 sessions are needed but if the problem is more pronounced, more sessions may be needed.
Our May and June Special Offer is just £69 per treatment for 1 area but if you buy 6 in advance, we will give you 2 free! Call the clinic now on 0113 282 3300 for more information or to book a FREE consultation.
Cellulite and Acoustic Wave Therapy Special Offer
Cellulite is a change in the appearance of the skins surface and is recognised by the dimpling and nodular appearance of skin, usually in the pelvic region, abdomen, bottom and thighs. Typically called ‘orange peel’ skin it is common in women of all ages.
Though not medically worrying it can be of great cosmetic concern to women with this unsightly skin texture, which of course becomes more worrying as summer days lurk on the horizon and shorts and short skirts make their way into our warm weather wardrobe.
There are hundreds of lotions and potions on the market promising amazing results but the fact is that to target cellulite effectively, we need a bit more than a cream to make a significant and noticeable difference.
Acoustic Wave Therapy is a proven method of cellulite breakdown. Six to Eight sessions will leave skin smoother, tighter and minus those hated lumps and bumps. Not an unpleasant treatment, though you certainly know you’re having it, it takes approximately half an hour, with no downtime afterwards. All we ask is that you drink plenty of water and try and do a little bit of exercise on the day of treatment, even if its only a short walk or some situps (this just helps the toxins we have broken down, leave the body).
Our May and June Special Offer is just £59 per treatment for 1 area but if you buy 6 in advance, we will give you 2 free! Call the clinic now on 0113 282 3300 for more information or to book a FREE consultation.
Diary of Dermaroller Treatment for Stretch Marks
Stretching and causing trauma to the skin cause stretch marks. This means that we lose collagen and elastin leaving the red / purple marks and indentations in the skin. Generally over time the red / purple marks fades and we are generally left with the damaged skin.
Genuine Dermaroller is a roller with small needles covering it. During treatment it is rolled over the skin. This process gently traumatises the skin and encourages the fibroblast cells to produce new collagen and elastin to repair the skin damage. The skin regenerates itself every 6 weeks therefore this is about the time you would notice the best improvement after a Dermaroller treatment. The amount of sessions needed would depend on severity of the stretch marks. Most clients notice a good improvement after one session.
To tell you more about an experience with the Dermaroller for stretch marks, one of our clients has kindly put together a diary on the treatment, take a read below:
Danne Montague King Enzyme Therapy
Many skin problems result from a build up of dead skin on the surface layer of the skin. This excessive dead skin build up contributes to wrinkles, fine lines, brown spots and blemishes, sun damage and acne.
A safe and effective way of removing this build up of dead skin is by using Enzyme Therapy. Enzyme Therapy works on the principle of reverse osmosis, drawing out impurities and debris, digesting dead skin cells and opening up the vascular system of our skin. This results in both an improvement in the cosmetic appearance of the skin but also in a laying down of new collagen and elastin, resulting in a tighter, firmer, clearer and healthier skin.
Danne works on the key principles of remove, rebuild, maintain and protect the skin. By removing the build up of dead and damaged skin and rebuilding the skin from the inside out, we really can achieve a skin that both acts and looks younger. It is then a simple matter to maintain and protect the skin from future damage.
Skin care is not complicated if the basic rules are followed and it really is possible to remove damage and dramatically improve the skins appearance.
Healthy and cosmetically pleasing skin cannot be achieved as a quick fix but with time, effort and the correct advice, skin can be restored to a more youthful, vibrant and healthy state.
The Danne Montague King Enzyme Therapy is a fantastic and totally safe way of maximising your skins health.

NEW Skin Package, make a difference to your skin!
Do you really want to make a difference to your skin? Lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sun damage and loss of volume can all be dramatically improved our new treatment package for 2011;
Medical needling is now a scientifically proven method of improving the visual appearance of skin and actually turning back the clock in relation to the ageing process. Medical needling works by creating a controlled wound in the skin. This wound then heals over a period of approximately 30 days, although the downtime would generally be 24 to 48 hours, and the skin subsequently increases its collagen production, resulting in a tighter, firmer skin with a visible improvement in lines, wrinkles and skin or sun damage. Transdermal products are then added in via dermoelectroporartion, (transderm) to intensify the effects.
Happy New Year from Face the Future
Yes, its that time of year where we spring clean our lives and make lots of new resolutions. It’s a great time to clear out your bathroom cupboards and take a fresh look at your skin care routine and products.
With such a multitude of products available its increasingly difficult to make ‘good’ choices’, so I’ve put together some tips to keep you on the right track.
The basics are:
A Neutral pH Cleanser
Cleansing is all about removing any accumulation of dirt and debris and not damaging the essential ‘acid mantle’, the protective coating of the skin. We have a tendency to over cleanse and thus ‘strip’ the skin of its protective layer, which can lead to skin problems. Many ‘over the counter products’ encourage rigorous cleansing and exfoliation techniques, which are just not necessary and can in fact be detrimental to skin health.
Kate recommends Environ Aquatrol, an oil based cleanser that really breaks down any ingrained dead skin, oil and debris. Followed by Environ cleansing gel, the skin feels clean and fresh but also stays well hydrated and soft.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is the cornerstone of any good skin routine. A fantastic normaliser and repairer, Vitamin A can really turn back the clock with continued use. Great for all skin types but essential for skins concerned with sun damage, early wrinkles or spots.
For normal skins or skins with mild damage Kate recommends the Environ AVST range, which introduces potent Vitamin A over time.
For skins with additional problems such as Acne, Danne’s Retosin is a superior product and an essential part of skin repair in an Acne Protocol. This is an amazing product.
Vitamin C
If Vitamin A is the big repairer, than Vitamin C is our essential protector. Important for eliminating free radicals, responsible for sun damage and the ageing process. Vitamin C serums are now seen as an integral part of any good skin care regime and their formulations have improved significantly in the last few years.
Kate recommends the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic for normal skins and SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF for skins with excessive sundamage. These products are superior Vitamin C products and give significant protection against the factors which cause ageing.
Sunblock
Sunscreen should be seen as an integral part of any skin care routine, in autumn, winter, summer and spring. Damaging UVA and UVB rays are present throughout the year and for those serious about age management Sunscreen should be seen as a priority product all year round.
Kate recommends Heliocare SPF 50 Gel. This is a great product for all skin types and colours.
Remember products you buy ‘over the counter’ do not have enough ‘active ingredients’ to make a significant difference to skin health. To make a real difference, ‘active’ ingredients are essential and these products are only available at specialist skin clinics such as Face the Future.
