Behind the Brand: Q & A with Obagi

Skin transformation results don't get any better than those achieved when using Obagi! We are big fans of this skincare system and wanted to get to know a little more about the brand. We spoke with Obagi's Faye Barrett, and even got the scoop on TWO exciting new products!

Q: How long have you worked for Obagi?

This is my 4th year working for Obagi Medical Products in the UK.

Q: Why do you think Obagi is so popular?

I believe Obagi has developed into a brand you can rely on to deliver great results. It's clinically proven, so you know you are in safe hands and this year we celebrating our 30th anniversary!

Q: How many countries is Obagi currently available in?

Obagi Medical products are available globally and recognised as a brand that specialises in physician-dispensed skin care systems using its Penetrating Therapeuticsâ„¢ technology.

Q: Our patients love the Obagi Nu-Derm® system, what makes this better than other depigmentation systems?

Obagi Nu-Derm® is a prescription skin care system used, not only to remove superficial and surface pigmentation, but also to treat the true cause of skin discolouration, found in the deeper parts of our skin known as the Basale layer. This is the part of the skin where melanocytes live, so to accurately control pigmentation we must inhibit their melanin production. This system is only available through a consultation with a trained Aesthetic Practitioner.

Q: What is your favourite Obagi product? You are only allowed to pick one!

It would have to be the Sunshield TINT SPF50 for me, in shade Cool. It was launched in summer of last year and I have worn mine every day since. Sun protection is arguably the most important part of any skincare regime - 365 days a year! Obagi Sunshield ticks all the boxes in terms of protection and is highly recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Plus Sunshield TINT supplies you with the best protection and make up all in one. This is the one product I use every single day without fail. Prevent and protect every day!

Q: There are lots of different ranges of Obagi. Which is the most popular system in the UK?

It recent months, there has been an increase in demand for Obagi360. This preventative skin care regimen helps to preserve, protect and lay the foundation for a lifetime of radiant, healthy-looking skin. The system introduces Retinol for early intervention. An ingredient which has been highlighted in the media recently as being the solution to anti-ageing with truly astounding benefits for all skin types. It is a simple three step system that appeals to both men and women; a fantastic introduction to good skin health!

Q: Our readers love hearing about new products when they come to market. Can you tell us about anything new and exciting in the Obagi range?

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of one of our favourite Obagi product lines, the Obagi Professional-C range. This month we have launched 2 exciting new products! Just like the key ingredient in our Professional-C skin care line, Vitamin C can now also be found in these two new additions:Professional-Câ„¢ Suncare SPF 30As the perfect addition to any daily skin care regimen, Obagi's newest dual-function product combines broad-spectrum SPF 30 in a 10% L-ascorbic acid formulation for a cosmetically elegant lotion that feels luxurious when it is applied, similar to a make-up primer.Professional-Câ„¢ Peptide ComplexIn addition to Vitamin C, this product also offers the ingredients kinetin and zeatin, which are plant sourced natural growth factors. Along with SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide) which is clinically shown to reduce the apparent depth of winkles by 35%. It can help to minimise the visible signs of skin ageing while promoting a healthy, youthful glow and improving firmness, tone and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. To purchase Obagi products, you will require a consultation with our nurse.
