Three Skin-Saving Home Treatments

Three Skin-Saving Home Treatments

During this time of isolation, so many of us are working from home and spending the majority of our time indoors. Let's face it, the most exciting it gets is a virtual quiz or a trip to the supermarket! So I've been thinkingmaybe now is the perfect time to give our skin some serious thought and TLC.

Would you consider giving your skin some much needed time out from the daily application of makeup? How would you like to incorporate a treatment programme of products to look after your skin properly? Read on to find out more about our 'skin saviours'.

Some professional and cosmeceutical products contain higher concentrations of active ingredients that may cause some downtime and skin reactions such as a red, hot, tight and flaky complexion. These products can achieve amazing results, but it takes some commitment and a bit of downtime to get there. Take a deep breath and go for it, now is the perfect time! But first, let's consider those of us with compromised skin.

Are you guilty of over-scrubbing, peeling or exfoliating your skin? Are you a serial picker and prodder? Do you wear too much makeup, wear makeup every day or not allow your skin to rest? Do you have mild acne, rosacea, eczema or recurrent dermatitis? If this sounds like you, there are two potential skincare ranges that you should consider to help calm any annoying inflammatory skin symptoms:

iS Clinical Skin Condition Kits - Pure Calm Collection

Cult classic iS Clinical curated their 'Pure Calm' collection of products, including a couple of their hero products:

This skin saving set (£174.99) contains the ideal amount of product for around a 3-month course of skincare goodies to help calm and normalise skin. All the products included in the kit work synergistically to address the symptoms of inflamed skin and work well on any skin that has been under stress, including those with acne and rosacea.

DMK Enbioment Microbiome System Travel Collection

Kate's DMK Enbioment Microbiome System Travel Collection is a probiotic skincare system created by DMK founder, Danné Montague King. Danné is a skin chemist who continues to work tirelessly on new formulations. This new streamlined skincare routine for stressed skin is incredible and includes:

The range - specifically targeted at stressed skin - works with skin's healthy bacteria, helping to boost immune responses and provide a healthy environment for skin's own microbiome. It is ideal for those with skin needing a little 'rest and recuperation' as the simplified approach restores skin health. I also love this range for my teen patients who are just starting off with mild acne, as well as those patients that attend clinic and are showing signs of stress or an impaired acid mantle.

The Enbioment Microbiome System (£75) contains all three products in a handy travel size - the perfect amount of product to try the system for several weeks whilst we're stuck working from home. So, what about those of us that want to use this time to give our skin a real push? We're home bound, social distancing and have the time to consider a little downtime.

ZO Skin Health

Example 'Getting Skin Ready' Kit The one range I'd really urge you to consider is ZO Skin Health. This fantastic range addresses a multitude of skin concerns including sun damage, lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, rosacea and acne. It is worth noting that ZO Skin Health is not for the faint-hearted and comes with an eye watering price tag, but the results can be incredible.I'd always recommend starting with a 'Getting Skin Ready' Kit, which consists of:

  • Cleanser
  • Scrub
  • Peel pad

Each product is selected for your specific skin type and concerns. The 'Getting Skin Ready' Kit helps to optimise skin for a stronger push after a few weeks preparation. It really is a great time to consider this range if you have a skin issue that needs a more focused and targeted approach and you are willing to accept a little downtime.
