Facial Thread Veins
Facial thread veins are tiny blood vessels, which run close to the surface of the skin. They have very thin walls, which constantly dilate and constrict.
As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated. They are not broken capillaries but permanently dilated or swollen capillaries.
They are also known as spider veins, broken veins, campbell d'morgan spots or telangiectasia.
There are numerous causes including: ageing, sun damage, hereditary, pregnancy, the rubbing of spectacles, temperature extremes, hormones and skin fragility. They are commonly seen in both men and woman with pale skins, typically Fitzpatrick Scale 1 and 2.
