Excess Facial Hair

Excess facial hair can be a distressing problem for woman, especially when hair appears in places usually associated with male hair growth such as the upper lip and chin.

This excess hair is usually coarse and dark (different from the fine hair that some women have on their upper lip, chin, breasts and stomach). The hairs also grow longer than normal so, for example, hairs on the upper lip may grow to 1 cm long instead of remaining short, fine and fair.

Lasers/IPL Technology

All Laser technology works in the same way. Heat is attracted to the pigment melanin in the hairs and travels down the hair shaft, to the follicle, where it either damages or destroys it.The damaged follicle is then no longer able to produce hair. Hair growth either stops altogether or the hair becomes much finer and lighter in colour. Laser will only work effectively, if the hairs are coarse and dark. Although all lasers work in the same way, there is a vast difference in the effectiveness of the Laser Machine. The Soprano Painfree Laser System is now consider the Gold standard for hair removal, giving a comfortable procedure with effective long term hair reduction. Other lasers we offer, including the Long Pulsed N:d Yag, the Q Switched Ruby and the IPL offer good results but the Soprano Painfree excels.

Excess Hair is either permanently removed or dramatically reduced.

Alkaline Wash

For hair that is fine, with less pigment (vellus), we offer DANNE' Alkaline Wash. This is a great treatment for removing hair, safely and effectively. Over time, hair becomes finer and finer and can eventually be permanently removed.

Electrolysis

Electrolysis is still the only way to permanently remove or reduce coarse blond or grey hair.
