Acne on Back & Chest
More easily hidden than facial acne, back and chest can be just as distressing. Whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, cysts and scars can be incredibly difficult to hide and affect clothing choices and comfort levels on a daily basis.
Many patients with back and chest acne choose not to go swimming, go to the gym and even avoid holidays, as they don’t wish to wear any type of clothing that shows off this cosmetically distressing and often incredibly painful type of acne.
Predominantly seen in teenagers , back and chest acne is incredibly common but often suffered in silence, as this type of acne is more easily hidden from friends and family members.
Acne is the most common of all skin diseases, affecting around 89% of 17 year olds. This type of Acne, Acne Vulgaris is often defined as a 'self limiting' disease, involving the sebaceous gland, and often resolves itself as hormones settle. However we are seeing more and more young adults presenting with a severe cystic types acnes, that continue long into adulthood. Back and chest acne often fits into this category, with painful, weeping spots causing discomfort and distress. The end result of this is often significant scarring and psychological distress, that continues long into adulthood.
Treated in exactly the same way as facial acne, it is essential to stabilise the skin and regulate the dysfunctions that contribute to the acne condition by removing blockages within the ducts and regulating oil flow and cell turnover.
Acne is a complex disease not only of secretions but also of texture and colour and it is only after careful assessment and a planned program of treatments and home care support, that a positive result can be achieved.
Our Acne program is extremely successful, with our patient results speaking for themselves. We are proud of the results we achieve and the difference it makes to our patients lives.
Please be aware, there are many clinics offering acne treatments, who have no real understanding of either skin or the complex issues surrounding acne. There are many treatments on offer, with these clinics usually offering a course of peels or laser, to treat acne. These will not work, as dealing with acne on a superficial epidermal level, does not treat or solve the issues relating to this complex skin issue. Please do your research and do not waste your money on treatments that simply will not work! Find a clinic where your skin consultant has an in depth knowledge of acne and is happy to let you speak to patients who have undergone treatment.
At Face the Future, we have developed a combination treatment program that is extremely successful and you are welcome to speak to any of our patients who have undergone this acne treatment program, in fact we actively encourage it, as it can be of great help and support.
