On Friday 1st July 2011, Dr Danne Montague King visited the Face the Future, as part of his UK tour. Dr King is a world renowned skin chemist and his treatments and accompanying skin products have world wide acclaim.  Unlike many other skin brands, the results achieved with DMK  paramedical skin treatments are measurable and often life changing, with real solutions to skin problems such as Acne, Rosacea and Age Management.

DMK is probably the only stand alone paramedical skin system that achieves such amazing results. However, as technology also improves it is interesting to see other treatment modalities that can further enhance improvements. Dr Kings visit incorporated a talk about the changing face of the skin industry and how combination treatments are gaining results hitherto thought impossible.  Combining Danne treatments with other modalities such as Dermaroller, increase result potential and often speed up improvements for the patient. Dr King also discussed their new make up range (shortly arriving in clinic), which looks to have great potential in terms of both skin camouflage and skin health.

Dr King spent the rest of the afternoon chatting with staff and patients and enthralling us with stories of past cases and celebrities who have received the benefits of Danne Treatments (many of the top names in film and theatre).

Everyone had a great afternoon and luckily for us the weather was beautiful and we all retired to the garden for a glass of champagne and nibbles.

In 2004 the FDA (US Foods and Drug Administration) approved the use of Botox for excessive sweating of the underarm (auxillary hyperhidrosis).

Using small localised injections botulinum toxin injections temporarily blocks the chemical messenger, in the nervous system, which ‘turns on’ the bodies sweat glands.  By blocking this messenger, sweating can be dramatically reduced at the site of injection.

Research has shown that over 80% of people receiving Botox for excessive underarm sweating have achieved great results, relieving this embarrassing problem.  Typically results will last between 7 and 9 months.

Botulinum toxin injections can be administered by a qualified Dr, Nurse or Dentist and take a relatively little time.  There are very little side effects, though some patients may have a headache or experience flu type symptoms for a few hours afterwards.  It is advised to avaoid the gym or sauna/steam room for approximately 24 hours after the treatment.

During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin just under the skin near the sweat glands responsible for excessive perspiration. Multiple injections are administered in the area that needs to be treated. assessment of the area that needs to be treated.

Botulinum toxin injections do not cure hyperhidrosis; your symptoms will return gradually. Follow-up injections are required to maintain dryness. These repeat injections may be necessary at intervals varying from seven to sixteen months.

“Coincidence is a funny thing. I’d recently been watching some YouTube videos on a new treatment, the Fire and Ice Facial and a couple of days later when I was at Face the Future having one of my block laser hair removal sessions, I got chatting to Kate about the Fire and Ice Facial. Turns out Face the Future were bringing this new treatment to the clinic, and know I was going to be the lucky client to get it first!

Having had previous facials wondered how this would compare, and if it is good enough for the celebs, it sure is good enough for me. My skin was starting to look a little dull and dry, probably the winter climate, central heating and the like. I hadn’t had a facial treatment in a while so new I needed a spruce up.

The Fire and Ice facial would take around 30 minutes.

My face was first cleansed. Then the ‘Fire’ part was applied and left on my face for about three minutes. Kate said this was a mini peel and would loosen the dead skin and boost collagen, to be honest I didn’t feel any ‘Fire’ at first, but after a couple of minutes I felt a warm, tingly sensation,

Ah, the fire had kicked in. I was beginning to wonder if I really had got skin like a hippo, you know thick and leathery!

It didn’t feel uncomfortable though. Kate stopped the Fire by neutralising my face.

Now comes the ‘Ice’ part of the treatment. Wondering where the Ice comes into play. It wasn’t Ice as I thought. It was a really cool, (as in cold, not funky!) minty smelling rejuvenating mask and felt great after the warm tingle!

This was the skin plumping part of the treatment and while horizontal hoped the result would leave me feeling refreshed. This was left on for about ten minutes. Once removed and moisturiser applied, I was done, dare I look in the mirror? I was going out the next day!

I was a little pink. The flushed look was back to normal later that day. Although after saying that, in the future I would have the treatment a few days before, had I got an important occasion to go to (the sun blushed tomato look just isn’t my thing).

I really enjoyed my afternoon treatment and my face is not dry now and feels really smooth, firm and plumped. Not sure how long it will be before my next visit, but it will be soon.”

Counterfeiters are now copying the Obagi brand. We recently had a customer approach us, after she purchased some Obagi products from Hong Kong (they were slightly cheaper).
