Lots of people shave, pluck and wax without realizing that by doing this they will actually stimulate hair growth!

If you suffer from thick dark hair in any area we offer IPL (intense pulsed light) laser hair removal, to remove the hair permanently. This is available for both men and women and works by the IPL emitting a broad spectrum of light directly into the hair follicle. The light energy turns to heat energy and damages or destroys the hair follicle resulting in permanent reduction in hair.

Areas that can be treated include faces, chests, backs, legs, bikini and underarms plus many more. Clients with dark course hair will achieve better results and the IPL will pick up the pigment in the hair much easier. Which?, the consumer watchdog, said that of the estimated six million British women considering laser, 74% were unaware that having a natural tan could affect the procedure and just over two thirds did not realise that a fake tan would make a difference to the effects of laser on their skin. The research also found that over half of the women were unaware that a heart condition could cause complications and 65% were unaware that diabetes as well as certain medications could influence treatment.

However, although they welcome the support Which? has given in campaigning against laser deregulation, some industry players have expressed concerns that the headline-grabbing agenda of the press could see the research being used to create a negative and unfair portrayal of the cosmetic laser industry.

It is interesting  that Which? has come up with  this research, but I think they are barking up the wrong tree!

First and fore most Which? need to highlight the fact that all laser hair removal clinics should be healthcare registered by law. If the consumer has laser hair removal at a healthcare registered clinic the operator will be trained and fully aware of the contraindications mentioned in the report.

All Healthcare registered clinics, including Face the Future, follow very strict guidelines / procedures and  protocols to ensure laser is as safe as it can be and certainly any type of tan on the skin (including fake tan) means we cannot carry out the procedure until the tan has faded.

My advice to potential laser consumers is check if the clinic is registered and then use your instinct if the clinic is dirty, you are not comfortable with the staff, the staff cannot answer your questions or you are generally not happy  try somewhere else, its your body, you only have one, so look after it.
