Danné Alkaline Wash – The painless hair removal system
The Danné Alkaline Wash system is a remarkable treatment designed to reduce fine, downy facial hair. This type of hair is very difficult to remove as the hair growth is usually dense and would take a long time to treat with electrolysis and impossible to treat with laser. The advantage of Alkaline is that you can remove large areas of hair in one treatment with no discomfort as with other hair removal systems.
Alkaline Wash is an Alkaline powder which is mixed into a paste and applied to the skin for approximately 3-4 minutes. The treatment works by taking the hair to a high Alkaline level. This will dissolve the hair, part of the underlying follicle and is totally pain free. After the first treatment the hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the regrowth rate will become slower and slower usually resulting in permanent loss over a period of time.
Laser Hair Removal @Face the Future
Hands up if you have recently been waxed, plucked, used tweezers, or threaded etc. What a drag having to remove those irritating hairs month after month. Well, Face the Future has the answer.
Most clients we see have usually been ‘THINKING’ about having a more permanent solution for months. If I said ‘Laser Hair Removal‘…… most would think it a little scary.
It’s not….really, we have the most up to date lasers in the area, with the Soprano XL Pain Free Laser, the Long Pulsed N:d Yag as well the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). All three are excellent for most clients with the exception of White, Blonde, Silver and Ginger hair colours, which can be removed by other means such as electrolysis, and we have done thousands of treatments with all lasers since they were introduced to the clinic.
Right, so you want to know what happens, then I can tell you. Telephone the clinic on 0113 282 3300 and our experience clinicians will make you an appointment for a FREE consultation and if required a patch test. (We are very flexible with our appointment times as we are open 6 days a week and work 3 late nights until 9pm, with FREE parking and extremely easy access off J30 M62).
Lasers and IPL
There is much confusion over the differences between Class 4 Lasers and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) systems and which lasers are better for which skin type, for successful hair removal.
All Lasers and IPL’s work in the same way, though some are more powerful than others. The light source heats up the pigment in the hair shaft and transfers the heat down the hair shaft, to the follicle, where it damages or destroys the area of the hair responsible for growth. Ideally the hair should be cut or shaved short, (not waxed, plucked or threaded) so the heat from the laser can travel the shortest distance to the hair follicle. Laser or IPL will only work on dark coarse hair. There is currently no laser, in the world, that will permanently reduce white, blond or red hair, despite what many laser hair removal clinics will tell you. Similarly, the hair must be coarse enough to transfer the heat to the follicle and results will be less impressive if the hair is fine and poor if the hair is vellus. The coarser and darker the hair and the paler the skin, the better the result will be.
Successful results will depend on the type of hair to be treated, the quality of the laser machine being used and the experience of the laser operator. Usually between 6 and 12 sessions is needed for maximum reduction, though if the hair is facial, it is common to need to top up treatments each year. It is not possible to promise complete ‘removal of hair’, as often hairs can lay dormant for years and may not be active at time of treatment. Also, laser technology has only been used to remove hair for approximately 10 years and no one knows if the follicle can in fact, over time repair itself.

Best Methods for Removing Hair
There are many different ways of removing hair, some temporary and some permanent. Here at Face the Future we specialise in permanent hair reduction, which is ideal for people who no longer want to deal with unwanted hair.
Lots of people shave, pluck and wax without realizing that by doing this they will actually stimulate hair growth!
If you suffer from thick dark hair in any area we offer IPL (intense pulsed light) laser hair removal, to remove the hair permanently. This is available for both men and women and works by the IPL emitting a broad spectrum of light directly into the hair follicle. The light energy turns to heat energy and damages or destroys the hair follicle resulting in permanent reduction in hair.
Areas that can be treated include faces, chests, backs, legs, bikini and underarms plus many more. Clients with dark course hair will achieve better results and the IPL will pick up the pigment in the hair much easier. Clients with fairer hair will still get results but many need a few more treatments. Six to ten sessions are normally recommended with 4-6 week intervals depending on the area being treated, so if you want hair free legs for your summer holidays, you should start your treatments soon.
Which? Present Laser Hair Removal in Negative Light
Industry insiders have expressed concerns that Which? research stating that millions of British women are putting themselves at risk owing to their lack of awareness about laser hair removal, could generate unnecessarily scaremongering stories.
Which?, the consumer watchdog, said that of the estimated six million British women considering laser, 74% were unaware that having a natural tan could affect the procedure and just over two thirds did not realise that a fake tan would make a difference to the effects of laser on their skin. The research also found that over half of the women were unaware that a heart condition could cause complications and 65% were unaware that diabetes as well as certain medications could influence treatment.
