–

Testimonial by Philippa W. December 2011

Philippa said:

After years of suffering with itchy, sore, hairy legs, I decided to have laser treatment and contacted Face the Future. I attended for an initial consultation with Julie and she advised that I was suitable for the treatment. I was told it would take between 6 to 10 treatments and the various laser options were discussed with me. I was not pressured into undertaking any treatment. I decided to go ahead. The treatment has been absolutely fantastic and took 8 sessions.

The staff at Face the Future were warm, friendly and welcoming and I was seen by Julie on each and every occasion. I am completely satisfied with my treatment and would recommend Face the Future to anyone thinking of undergoing laser hair removal.

Julie said:

Thank you very much Philippa for taking the trouble to write. I try my best to be as honest and as straight talking as possible during consultation. I am so pleased that you found your experience with Face the Future an “absolutely fantastic” one Philippa, your legs look great now. I know from experience that once you have had treatment it is a bit addictive and you might want to have other areas treated. (Approx 80% of my clients have more than one area).

You know where we are.

Hope to see you again soon and thanks again for your feedback.

If like many of us your resolution is to loose weight, stop smoking, reduce the drinking that you have possibly over indulged in over the last few weeks, then these are all great starts to a healthier happy you however sometimes that extra bit of something is needed to help keep you on track and also to finish off the good work you have managed to start over the first few weeks of January.

So how can we help? If loosing weight is your main aim then Radio Frequency and Acoustic Wave Therapy treatments are a must have! Not only do they help to boost production of elastin in your skin and tighten and tone up any flabby skin you may be left with post diet but they can also help to remove the appearance of any cellulite something that just dieting alone will not combat. Many of our body hang ups are not always weight related often there is an area that no matter what exercise you do you just can’t tighten the skin often leaving us with wrinkly and saggy skin where it was once tight and smooth. Treatments for Acoustic Wave Therapy and Radio Frequency start from £59 and £79 respectively.

More often then not those who smoke will find they are more prone to fine lines and wrinkles both on their face and especially around the lips. There are a number of different treatments we can offer to reduce these issues. People also forget that while their face is taking a hit from smoking, fingers and hands can also look more wrinkled and sometimes stained. We have great treatments to rejuvenate hands and reduce the tell tale sign of smoking and aging using either the Q switch laser or mini peel treatments starting from as little as £39. For the face there are a number of treatments that we would suggest including Skin Peels, Genuine Dermaroller & Botox and Filler Injections. We offer independent unbiased advice on all sorts of treatments. We make sure you get the right treatment for you. You can also help to rehydrate your skin with our HydraFacial treatments and Danne Treatments just think of how amazing you will look!

Excessive alcohol generally leads to dry, dehydrated skin. This can be helped with plenty of water and Vitamin A and C can help to rehydrate and repair and protect the skin. Vitamin C comes in many forms either through food, in oral vitamin form or in a topical serum. Vitamin A although not legal in this country to be taken orally it is fantastic in a topical cream. Night and Day it will help to reduce any fine lines, wrinkles.

It’s always nice to get feedback from our clients, and recently one brought in a hand written testimonial to say thank you for the treatments and service Face the Future have provided. We’ve typed it up and you can have a read below:

–

After my first pregnancy some 20 years ago I was left with unsightly stretch marks across my stomach and hips. Not until I was dragged into the 21st century, acquired a laptop and discovered the internet, Face the Future and their wonderful treatments became available to me. I booked in for a consultation and met Chloe who advised a course of Genuine Dermaroller would be the best treatment to start with.

Chloe carefully explained the procedure and I was lucky enough to start my course that very day. After four treatments there was a definite reduction in the length and depth of the stretch marks and I was very pleased, however I felt there was room for further improvements and booked in for a consultation with Kate who advised a course of Radio Frequency to tighten, lift and smooth the area to compliment the Genuine Dermaroller. I was introduced to Natalie who carefully explained the procedure and we began our journey.

WOW!! I have had 14 treatments and can almost see the tummy I had pre-pregnancy! I even walked along the beach on holiday without hiding beneath a sarong. The combination of treatments plus the advice and support from all the team at Face the Future have changed my life and given me confidence I thought I had lost forever. I am now planning a course of Radio Frequency on my face and more on my tummy – I am officially addicted, a very happy customer!

Face the Future is registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, previously known as the Health Care Commission.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. It aims to make sure better care is provided for everyone, whether that is in hospital, in care homes, or in our case a private skin clinic.

The Care Quality Commission regulates health and adult social care services, whether provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies, or voluntary organisations.

Standards are set across the board, of which the health care providers are required to meet. The CQC will use various methods to ensure that the clinic is adhering to the essential standards required.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU

You can expect to be involved and told what’s happening at every stage of your care
You will always be involved in discussions about your care and treatment, and your privacy and dignity will be respected by all staff.

You can expect care, treatment and support that meets your needs
Your personal needs will be assessed to ensure that you get care that is safe and supports your rights. You will get the treatment that you and your care professional agree will make a difference to your health and wellbeing.

You can expect to be safe
You will be protected from abuse or the risk of abuse, and staff will protect your human rights. You will be cared for in a clean environment where you are protected from infection. You will not be harmed by any unsafe or unsuitable equipment.

You can expect to be cared for by qualified staff
You needs are met by staff who are properly qualified. You will be looked after by staff who are well managed and have the chance to develop and improve their skills.

You can expect your care provider to constantly check the quality of its services
If you, or someone acting on your behalf makes a complaint, you will be listened to and it will be acted upon properly. Your personal records will be accurate and kept safe and confidential.

Factors such as the deregulation of laser hair removal equipment has meant more people are visiting clinics that are undertaking treatments without correct training and often without insurance. When selecting a clinic it is really important to ensure they are registered with the appropriate body and that staff are adequately trained. Care Quality Commission registration is the only way a patient can guarantee all the relevant checks are in place to ensure a safe and effective treatment by qualified professionals.

For more information, please call us today on 0113 282 3300.

The free fatty acid content of the skin surface layers is responsible for the turgidity and “bounce” of young looking skin and also acts as a resistant to microbial invasion. These fats are the essential fatty acids or efa and are principally gamma-Linoleic Acid (GLA) with Omega 6 and Linoleic Acid Omega six. Our bodies must have these fats, but cannot make them, hence the importance of getting them from outside sources. EFA’s not only keep the skin soft, supple and young looking, they also keep the skin protected against invasion from outside sources and help to support new collagen cells formed.

DMK efa+ is a great complete supplement. DMK efa+ contains Evening Primrose Oil, Seabuckthorn Oil and vitamin E encased in a fish sourced gelatin capsule. Evening Primrose Oil is considered to be the best source of Omega Fatty Acids due to its high concentrated bioactive GLA. Exceptionally beneficial to those suffering from adverse skin conditions, hormonal imbalances, chronic inflammation and arthritis.

Seabuckthorn Oil has been called the miracle oil due to its outstanding rich source of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Seabuckthorn contains over 100 nutrients and bioactive substances. The use of fish sourced gelatin eliminates any fear of BSE contamination.

Especially recommended for:

Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis

Acne skin

Aging, dehydrated skin

Relieving premature breast pain and PMS

Inflamed reactive skin

Helps to maintain water balance in the body

Regulates all cell functions

Improves the condition of hair and nails

DMK efa+ is based on the knowledge of all the cell functions and their nutritional needs. Essential means they must be obtained from a dietary source because they body cannot produce them. The question is with the frantic pace of daily life, does your diet contain a reliable source of essential elements?

DMK efa+ are available to purchase in our clinic or over the phone on 0113 282 7744.

So what has the greatest impact on our skin age – genetics or the way we treat our skin?

There is no doubt that good genes help and can give you inherent hardiness to environmental factors, and no matter what you do your skin will always look good, but good genes or not if you abuse your skin it will eventually look lack lustre, so do not take them from granted.

Good skin is a combination of things; a good skincare routine, using good products that are tailored to your skin, proper cleansing, vitamins and nutrition. This said there are things that are out of our control that have an impact such as environmental pollution, UVA/UVB rays, and hormonal changes in our youth and later life. Things within our control also impact on the skin such as poor eating habits, drinking, smoking, poor cleansing habits and bad sleeping patterns. Couple all this with stress from from hectic lives and it is a wonder that any skins achieves its potential. Skin conditions can be successfully treated these days leaving little to no evidence of the initial skin challenges experienced.

If you’re starting to regret those years of skin abuse luckily skincare these days is on our side. In these times of dedicated skincare research we can turn back the hands of time with a good diet, sun protection and a tailor made skincare routine. We have never had more of a chance to enhance how we look by making a few simple changes to the way we live.

Whether you have genetically good skin or are prone to skin disorders you need to look after it. Remember, the skin is the largest “living” organ of the body so be kind to it and age will be kinder to you.

My advice is nurture your skin and give Mother Nature a helping hand!!

It seems that lately everyone is joining the coupon craze. Whether it is a hotel spa break for 2, a go-karting pass, or sessions of hair removal, offers and reductions appear to be on everything. Whilst some of the offers are great value for money, others may not be as good as they seem.

As an advanced skin clinic we feel strongly about giving our clients the best advice for their individual skin concerns. Our experience from our own staff and clients that have used coupon website deals have brought a couple of points to our attention. So, we thought we would take the opportunity to highlight a number of factors that we feel you, as consumers, should consider before purchasing a deal.

The treatment specialist
Often the offers and reductions given are used by clinic as a way of targeting new clients to attend appointments for a trainee or newly qualified member of staff. So before committing to the treatment, ensure that you are happy to be seen by a trainee – and if you’re unsure always call the clinic and find out a little bit more about the clinician you will be seeing.

The type of machine used
It is important that you find out exactly what machine is available with the deal, especially when embarking on new treatments such as laser hair removal. There is a vast array of hair removal lasers on the market, and having four in clinic ourselves, we have the advantage of knowing which specific lasers suit each individual hair type. The common machine that is advertised is the IPL, which has now been on the market for many years, and at the time of release probably was one of the best. However times have changed, and with advance in technology the lasers have developed to give much more powerful and efficient results. Also, not all hair types are suitable for laser treatments, so ensure that you are able to have the fee refunded, or at least transferred to another treatment, if unfortunately you were not suitable.

Location
Make sure that you are aware of where the clinic or salon is situated, sometimes you may find that they wouldn’t always be your place of choice for a pampering treat!

Over-Subscription
Remember that if an offer sounds good to you, it probably sounds good to lots of others too. The clinics are not obliged to extend the offer to another day or time, so bearing this in mind book early. Although in most cases a refund would be given, it’s a hassle and why should you miss out.

CQC Registration
Not all clinics have to be registered with the Care Quality Commission to practice skin treatments, however the ones that are can offer the reassurance that their clinical procedures and protocols are all compliant with current laws and legislations. This ensures that you will be treatment with the highest standard of practice.

We love a bargain as much as the next person, but only if it’s worth it. Just make sure that it doesn’t seem too good to be true and you make an informed decision…so that way you get what you want.

The Vitalize Peel is a unique breakthrough formulation with mild acids that provide a safe, consistent peel with limited downtime and predictable results and is safe for all skin types. One of our clients who has had the peel, Linda Townsend, was kind enough to write a day by day diary of her experience of the treatment, take a look below….

—

Diary of the Vitalize Peel

I decided to have a Skin peel just before Christmas to brighten up and freshen my skin up. Here’s my diary of how it went and the results:

Day 1: Monday

I got into the clinic for an early morning appointment, I arrived with no make up on and was a little nervous but very excited to be having the peel done. I had seen other people who had, had the peel and they got amazing results. I think I was most apprehensive about how I would feel without any make up on through the peeling process.

When I went into the treatment room Kate was fantastic and really put me at ease explaining to me what to expect. Whilst having the treatment Kate firstly cleansed my face and then applied the peel, there were a couple of layers to be applied each that gave me an initial burning feel that was over within minutes.

From start to finish it took about 20minutes to apply the peel, afterwards I was given some moisturiser and hydrating gel to apply for the next few days through the peeling process and most importantly a sun block.

After the peel was applied my face it just looked shinny I even felt confident enough to go to the supermarket with it on as you couldn’t really tell i had it on. I was told to keep the peel on all day and night and then to wash my face with a gentle cleanser the next day.

Day 2: Tuesday

I had to work on the Tuesday, I had washed my face and applied the moisturiser I was given. My face felt tight but no peeling as yet! I was surprised at the reaction of everyone at work as I thought looked rough with no make up on but everyone said I just looked pale.

Day 3: Wednesday

I started to peel in the afternoon, my face started to crack around my mouth, I shed quite a lot on the Wednesday night and had to really resist the temptation to start picking and peeling the skin away! Still no make up on!

Day 4: Thursday

Started to see a real difference between the patches that had peeled and those which hadn’t, where I hadn’t peeled looked really dull and almost grey looking.

Day 5: Friday

Still peeling and applied a little make up although you can see when a bit of skin peels off the different areas with no make up on. Finding that washing my face morning and night is when i shed the most as skin rubbing off. My skin is looking great now.

Day 6: Saturday

Little bit of peeling on my hairline but pretty much done, my skin appears really bright and smooth, I went out to meet friends for a meal on the Saturday night and everyone had commented on how lovely it looks.

Day 7: Sunday

I love my new skin the week seems to have gone really quickly! Really happy with the results for minimum down time and no effort. Planning on having another peel next summer now my skin feels lovely and make up goes on so nicely. Definitely would recommend the peel just before Christmas or a special occasion I wish I had, had one before my wedding!

—
