Following on from the January post regarding fake Dermamelan products, we have had more sent in, this time from someone who bought the Dermamelan in clinic treatment pack on the internet from America.

This pack is only for in clinic use by a trained practitioner, so we strongly advise against anyone buying it to use on themselves. The images below show the FAKE Dermamelan Mask, which although is in a similar container to the genuine product, the contents could be anything. Would you put this on your skin?

Here was another tampered Dermamelan mask received for verification. You can see the colour and texture difference between the authentic product and the tampered one.

Remember, only purchase Dermamelan and Cosmelan from authorised stockists and only have the mask done by a trained practitioner, many peoplemake their pigmentation far worse using fake products.

We stock the Dermamelan Maintenance cream and Cosmelan 2 maintenance cream which are suitable for home use.

Good moisturisers will be of some help, but what the body needs is the right nutrients to help skin cells retain their moisture and flexibility. SKIN Omegas is the ideal winter skin supplement.

SKIN Omegas is a combination of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. These are responsible for the maintenance of the cell membrane which hold moisture in the cell – so without these in your diet the skin loses moisture more quickly. Results are fast – after taking SKIN Omegas for just 10 days many have noticed a real difference in their skin!

Advanced Nutrition Programme SKIN Omegas are currently on special offer for a limited time in our online shop – click here to visit.

1. Treatments
We have a wide array of treatments here at Face the Future, with some great age management treatments such as mesotherapy, microdermabrasion, botox or fillers. You could even treat your mum to a course of laser hair removal, which we have some great offers on at the moment.

2. Products
If your mum is already a Face the Future client, then you can treat her to some of the products she might already use. Alternatively we have a great range of products in our online shop, from leading brands such as Advanced Nutrition Programme, Aromatherapy Associates and Mesoestetic.

3. Gift Vouchers
There are always our fantastic gift vouchers that you could buy for your mum. We can have a gift voucher ready for you within 1 hour of purchase. You can call us, and pay over the phone for your voucher and then you can either pick up your voucher or we will email it across to you. This is perfect for buying a last minute present!

So there are a few ideas for you, but we would recommend you that give us a call if you can’t make up your mind, or if you need some advice on any of our treatments or products.

It seems the Americans are now selling collagen drinks on the pretence that swallowing these drinks will miraculously improve wrinkles and or improve the signs of aging.

This is impossible and would be an expensive mistake if the product arrives in the UK at prices similar to America. Forget the hype, good skin is achieved by good food, pure omega 3 (or fresh oily fish), exercise and a good quality cleanser and a moisturiser that actually penetrates the surface of the skin.

What is collagen? Collagen is made of protein and functions primarily as a support structure in the body, comprising 30% of its mass. There are many forms of collagen in the human body. Interestingly, only 4 types of collagen account for over 90% of the body’s total. The four types include: Collagen I which is found in skin, tendons, capillaries and veins, bone, and organs; Collagen II, which is the primary component of cartilage; Collagen III, the main component of reticular fibers; and Collagen IV, the mainstay of the cell membrane.

For expert advice on techniques that work for great looking skin, call us today on 0113 282 3300 and speak to a skin specialist.

Allergan have embarked on a massive public awareness campaign for their latest product Juvéderm® ULTRA. I wonder who lodged the complaints, I cannot believe children seeing this advert would put Juvéderm on their letter to Santa, and if they did what would anybody be able to fill on a child?

Even if the clinician had left their morals and common sense at home. The claim by somebody that Juvéderm should only be administered by a qualified medical aesthetic practitioner was also upheld because it is completely correct. The term does not imply only doctors can administer Juvéderm and so the ASA was correct to uphold the complaint.

I think what we have seen here is a touch of green eye from Juvéderm’s competitors.

Most of the large cosmetic companies make fantastic claims with their so called “magic” creams, and this piece published in aesthetic medicine magazine this week makes interesting reading for anyone baffled by how these companies can make such claims.

Estée Lauder used a very small sample of 25 women in the study (I wonder how many women work at their head office?). They used high magnification to overemphasise the results which the human eye could not possibly detect. The A.S.A is right to disapprove of this advert because obviously, most consumers would not expect to need a microscope to see a result!!

A good tip when looking at similar adverts is the small print on the bottom of the adverts, and then make your own judgement. If a large company is using a sample number of people in the 100s or even worse in the 10s, is it really serious about proving its claims or is it using carefully selected women to manipulate the outcome, you decide!

If you are interested in treatments for wrinkles that do actually work, take a look at our Botox, Dermal Fillers or Mesotherapy treatments.

At Face the Future we achieve excellent results with Danne Montague-King treatments and products. We use them to treat acne, premature ageing, rosacea and many more.

We stock a full range of products and one of our practitioners will see you and prescribe a skin care range suitable for you.

Many beauticians / skin specialists will diagnose your skin as dry, oily or combination, but skin is not as simple as this.

You should start using a good range of skin products to help you stay looking young and our Danne products don’t just sit on the surface of he skin, they sink down deep into the dermis and work to enhance your skins natural production of collagen and elastin.

Why wait until you have aged to start looking after your skin, start now and the results will be evident in the future.

One of our recent clients, Debbie from Harrogate was using Clarins since the age of 22, she is now 33 and says she has not noticed any difference with her skin even after spending thousands of pounds on products over the years.

She came in to see us and we recommended 5 products, which were no more expensive than the ones she was already but contains a much higher dose of active ingredients, therefore are much more effective on the skin. Debbie loved the products; she said her skin looked fresh and glowing. She then decided to try one of the Danne Treatments and continues to have one once a month to keep her skin in good shape!

It just shows that something so insignificant like changing your skin care range really can make a difference.

The recommended daily amount is between 1.5-2 litres.

Drinking more water helps to clear toxins from the body keeps the skin fresh and healthy looking. Water is essential for the bodies growth and maintenance as it is involved in a number of processes it helps get rid of waste and regulates the bodies temperature and provides a medium for biological reactions to occur in the body.

Water is lost from the body through urine and sweat and must be replaced through the diet. If you don’t consume enough you can become dehydrated causing symptoms such as tiredness, dizziness, nausea and loss of concentration.

Start as you mean to go on!!
Start the day with a glass of water when you wake up on a morning.
Find time during the day to make yourself drinks, don’t forget that fruit teas and sugar free juices count towards your daily intake.
Keep a bottle of water in your bag at all times
When you’re at work fill a 2 litre of bottle of water and pour it into glasses, that way it’s easy to know how much water you are drinking per day.
The sensation of thirst is not felt until you are dehydrated; therefore try to drink before you get thirsty.
Increase your intake of fresh fruit and vegetables as they have high water content.

There are certainly no proven health benefits for bottled water over tap water as the tap water in the UK goes through many processes to bring it up to adequate standards.
